For over 150 years, Steinway pianos have continued

works of art. With over 40 years of experience in the piano business, Tom

The Steinway of William
R. Hearst

|
According to Steinway records, "This Steinway Model C Mahogany was made in our New York factory on February 3, 1911 and sold from our New York showrooms on March 2, 1911 to William Randolph Hearst, and delivered to 137 Riverside Drive, Manhattan." This was Hearst's famous five–story apartment at The Clarendon.
Is it possible George Gershwin, Cole Porter and others played this piano at Hearst's lavish parties? Probably. We
puchased this piano from an estate in San Marcos, CA, which has us think it's possible this instrument may also have been at the Hearst Castle, San Simeon, CA. Because of the authenticated provenance of this instrument, our buyer gladly paid a $40,000 premium. |
